Wishin' For Spring

I am just wishing for some spring to come soon! I am so ready for it! So, I had some spare time between doing laundry and packing for our trip, and thought I'd take some pictures of my tulips before they die!

Playing around with the new camera, and my macro lens that John got me for Christmas.
This camera takes AWESOME pictures, but I still need more practice. The pictures look great on the screen, but then when I upload them to the computer, I see they are not as sharp as I would like. It also might have a lot to do with my eyes! As I get older, my close-up vision is perfect without my glasses, but I need the stupid glasses to see! I might have to use bifocals when it comes to looking in that view finder! Oh no! Say it aint so!

John took this one! Isn't it sweet? He was napping on the sofa where momma usually sits.

The Case Of The Missing Fish

Once upon a time..actually about 2 years ago, I bought a Beta fish for in my craft room.
Mr Blue lived happily in his goldfish-shaped bowl. Swimming around inside of his bowl, hiding in the plant, and blowing bubbles when he was content.
Every night before going to bed, Jingles and I feed Fishy. Tonight, I go to feed Fishy, but he's nowhere to be found!
He's not hiding in the plant, not laying on the rocks. Not even laid out on the floor under the bookcase where his bowl sits!
So what the heck happened to my fish?
Did Jingles find him on the floor earlier today and enjoyed a fishy snack?
Did he hide his decomposing corpse somewhere in the house?
Guess we'll find out if we start smelling fish in a few days!
Poor poor fishy! You will be missed.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope everybody has time to relax, and enjoy the day with their special Valentine.

I unfortunately have to work tomorrow. Insert sympathy here! But, at least it's Valetnine's Day I'm working and NOT Friday the 13th! Those can be worse than any full moon when it comes to hospitals!
Just praying that my day will fly right by, and I'll be home in John's arms before long.

It's A ZOO Out There!

Ok, here are the zoo pictures I promised ya!

It wasn't as much fun as I had hoped. You guys that know me, know I love to snap as many pictures as possible. Well, the person I went to Atlanta with was not "into" me hanging out at each display watching the animals. She fretted, and squirmed, and I knew she was getting aggrivated with me. That's why I like to go to the zoo by myself. I can go at my speed, and stand at the lion display as long as I want. I never did get to see the tigers. Somehow we missed them, and she wouldn't go back with me to see them. {pout} oh well, an excuse to go back again, right?! LOL!
I did get to see my Pandas, and that's the main reason I wanted to go. But, the pandas were behind glass, so that's why there is glare on the photos. stupid glass!

I'm HOME!

It's so good to be home! I love to travel, but it's great to get back home to your own bed, your own pillow, your own shower, and the people you love and missed.
And the kitty that you loved and missed! Jingles gave me the cold shoulder treatment when I first got back, but he's curled up in my lap, so I guess he has forgiven me already! :-)

So, I bet everyone wants to know where I went, right?

Well, Friday me and a co-worker went to Atlanta for a nursing conference. I needed some CEU hours, and I haven't been to Atlanta in a very long time, so we took off for the big city.

Our hotel and conference were in the Perimeter section of Atlanta. Right next to a MARTA station. MARTA is the name of the train in Atlanta. I got real good at riding the train this weekend! That's the way to travel, no worries about driving through the city, no riding around looking for a parking place. Just jump on the train, and get off wherever you take a notion.

Friday evening we checked out the Perimeter Mall. Saturday we sat through lectures all day. Then we jumped onto the train and went to Centennial Park. Strolled around, and found a great place for a steak dinner, then jumped onto the train and went back to the hotel.

Today, we got up and headed to Zoo Atlanta for a few hours, before making that trip back to Savannah.

It was fun, but ended way too soon! :-( I want to go back. I told John maybe this spring we'll go spend the weekend. Take in a Brave's home game, go to the Aquarium, maybe back to the zoo, maybe 6 Flags. If anyone wants to join us, give us a buzz, we'll make a fun weekend out of it!

I hate to take pictures of people. This guy was playing the bongos, and he was really good. He had no idea I was taking his picture. I LOVE my big zoom lens! :-)





It was amazing the amount of people who were playing in the water! And, it wasn't that warm outside! It was in the 60's before the sun went down, but it was in the lower 50's when I shot this!




Atlanta's "finest" were out in full force last night. This was taken close to Philips Arena. There was a basketball game last night, and people EVERYWHERE! So, the police were on every corner!

Baby It's COLD Outside!

Alright, I know it wasn't subzero like some of you guys up north have been having, but for Savannah in February it is COLD!!
Our lows this time of year should be in the 40's, not the lower 20's!
I went to work this morning, and look what happened to one of the fountains.





I thought it was pretty all covered with ice, so I HAD to take a picture. The cop who was coming to the hospital for breakfast was watching me like I was a crazy lady. Most people were rushing to get into the warm hospital, but not me, I'm standing there in the cold snappy pictures.
Oh well....always looking for those "Kodak Moments" to photograph!

The books tell me to prune my roses on Valentine's Day. Typically we don't get any more hard freezes after Valentine's Day. Well, that's next Saturday, so I hope that means we will be warming up and staying warm! I have had enough of this winter. I'm ready for spring! Seems like I was singing this tune last summer as well.
This weekend it's supposed to get to 70 degrees! Yee Haw! Time to drag out the shorts, and head down to Tybee to frolic in the sand! Sound like fun?
In the meantime, I'll be hibernating under my blankie a few more nights. :-(

I'm So Excited!!!

Today my sweet husband gave me my birthday present!
Yea, we know, he's a little early. But that's ok! Shoot, my mother-in-law gave me a birthday present a week ago, so he's not as bad as her! LOL!
I still have 52 days until my B-Day, but better early than never, right?! :-)

I had been dreaming of an upgrade to my Canon digital camera. But, it's only been 4 years since the original Canon that he bought me. I honestly never expected to get this camera. But, Circuit City is going out of business, and he wanted to take advantage of the sale price. It's a good thing we got it today, it was the last one of it's kind!

So, I got the Canon 50D. It's a BIG upgrade from my camera, and a level below a professional digital SLR camera.



Now I have no excuse for learning more, and possibly living out my dream of being a semi-pro photographer, huh? I wouldn't mind doing senior portraits, or family shots, baby shots, engagement and maternity shots. I really have no desires to be a wedding photographer. There's not enough money to put up with Bridezillas!
