I've been preparing since February for our hospitals' craft shows. LOTS of crocheted hats have been made since then. Today, I found out there will be no craft show after all! So, it's YOUR lucky day! I will be posting LOTS of items on my Etsy store! If you have any specific requests, please let me know. Thanks!

Crochet Little Girl's Dress

So, I've been really busy crocheting items for the upcoming craft show. I'm going to get carpel tunnel at this speed! I needed a break from hats, and found this precious pattern online. (FREE). If you want it let me know, I can post the link. I saw this dress, and just had to make one! I gave it to a co-worker for her little girl. I'm still waiting on some pics of her in the dress, I'm anxious to see how she looks in it. I also found a free pattern for the crochet daisies, and made a bunch of them to addorn the dress. Here's the final project what do you think?

Rapunzel Hat

So I've been really busy crocheting things for my craft show this winter. Trying to come up with some cute ideas that can maybe make some money. I have been doing lots of animal hats with earflaps and braids. The braids got me thinking about Rapunzel. I did some googling of images, and the hats I saw just made their earflaps in yellow ,then the long braids. I wanted mine to look like real hair. So....here's what I came up with.
This is sized to fit a toddler, it just looks big on the mannequin head because she has no hair. Do you think these will sell? Now the hardest part, coming up with a price!

Team Colors

I've been preparing for a craft show around the holidays. Spending my spare time crocheting things to sell. Last weekend I made some beanies. First Minnie Mouse
LOVE the pink bow! And, you can't have Minnie without Mickey.
After looking at the color combos, I started thinking about school colors. Folks in the south LOVE their football! From Pee Wee football, to High School Football, to College Football, to Pro Football. Everybody has their favorite team, and like to show off their pride with their team colors. So....I started making these team color beanies. These particular beanies are sized to fit toddlers. I hope to have a wide variety available. Please note, if you see anything you like, I can make it special for you. Just let me know size, and color. I can add it to my Etsy store especially for you. Here are my Team Color Beanies. Thanks for looking!
My high school colors were Purple & White, so you know I HAD to include purple and white. :-)

Update On Teacup Craft

I discovered that the sprinkler hit the cup, and bird seed was stuck to the saucer. I simply ran my finger across the saucer, and the whole thing fell off of the bottom cap! I am NOT impressed with the Gorilla glue! It's doing a fine job keeping the cup glued to the saucer, but it's not holding the saucer to the brass cap! I dropped by Michael's and picked up a tube of E6000, I've used this before on craft items, and was very impressed with it. So.....we'll see how it does. The glue should be dry by morning. Wish me luck!

My Weekend DIY Project

Ok, I have something to get off of my chest. I am addicted to Pinterest! Ok.....I said it! I spend evenings looking at craft projects, decorating ideas, recipes, etc. I love the site! Anywho.......I saw a craft idea, and knew that I had to make one, and put it in my butterfly garden. A teacup bird feeder!
Perfect size for the little birds who hang out in my garden. So, I set off in search of the things I needed to make one for myself. THE hardest thing was finding the blasted teacups! You would think some place like Home Goods would have them, right? Wrong! Coffee cups, but no teacups! It's too dang hot out, and rather than waste gas, and getting upset by not finding what I wanted, I did the logical thing a computer geek would do.... Check out Ebay! And yep, for $5 I found a tea cup, AND it had PINK flowers on it! A win win! So, you glue the cup to the saucer. And then glue a brass cap to the bottom of the saucer. I used Gorilla glue. Hope it continues to hold for me! Now, in their project, they used a brass pipe for the pole. I didn't want to spend the $$$ for brass, I had a wooden dowel that fit the cap perfectly. So, I bought hammered metallic spray paint, and painted the dowel to look like brass, or metal. I then glued the dowel into the cap. And Voila! A cute little bird feeder that fits perfectly into my garden. I stalked the garden for awhile, trying to get a shot of a bird enjoying it, but it's too hot out for the birds! I'll try again later,

My latest Creations

I made some St Patty's Day hats for a friends kids. So, I though Jingles needed a hat too. I created this last weekend. It took me longer to get a picture of the cat with a hat on his head, then it took me to make the silly thing! LOL

My Etsy Store

Ok. I've been really bad about blogging lately! I know....don't fuss at me. It all started as a way to keep our friends and family up to date on our adventures, and an outlet for me and my photography. Now, thanks to Facebook, we share photos and stories there. So, I decided to dust off the old blog, and instead highlight what I hope to turn into a business some day.

Growing up, my grandma B was always sewing or crocheting something. Looking back, I wish I had let her teach me the art then. It took me until I was well into my 20's to cherish her art, and decide to teach myself. Using lots of books, I finally sat down and learned to crochet. That first Christmas, I think everyone in the family received an afghan handmade by me. Then people I work with would request I make afghans for them. Over the years, I bet I made over 100! After awhile, I set the hooks down, and started into other craft ventures. Last February, John and I were taking our annual trip to Vermont. With nothing to do but sit in the car for 2 days, I thought I'd pull out the hooks and make a small blanket for a co-worker who was pregnant. During that car trip, I not only made the blanket, but a hat for that baby, then a second hat, because I was afraid the first hat wasn't big enough! A beanie for my husband, a scarf for me, etc, etc, etc! When I got to Vermont, I discovered You Tube videos showing how to create things. So my obsession with crocheting restarted! I haven't sat the hooks down since February. And, if I sneak one more skein of yarn into the house, I'm afraid John will evict me! LOL!

After I got over the rush of crochet orders from friends on Facebook, and work, I decided to set up shop on Etsy and offer some of my completed work. This is only a small sample of what I do, but I wanted to get the store up and running, and see what happens. My store is:PJ's Designs.
I'll upload more photos here, to give everyone an idea of what I've been up to.

My animal hats were EXTREMELY popular for Christmas! Can't tell you how many I made for friends to give as gifts. A co-worker wanted an owl hat to give to her teen daughter. But, she didn't want "owl colors". I came up with this color combo. Can't say I've ever seen an owl that is purple and grey! LOL!

Who's ready for some St Patty's day fun? Savannah has the second largest parade in the US! Folks come from all over to experience a southern St Patty's day festivities. I thought I'd jump on the band wagon quick, and stitch these up for my friend's kids. Can't wait to see them donning their new hats!

Crocheted Panda ornament I made my nephew's girlfriend for a quick Christmas gift. I found the pattern on-line. It stitched up really quick, and easy. The hardest part was finding the tiny eyes!

Crocheted mug wraps I made for my co-workers for Christmas. They went over really well, the hardest part of the job was figuring out which wrap to give to which person!
