This May Be The Last Time.......

...you ever get to see pictures like this! LOL!

4th photography class assignment is due Tuesday night. Our topic this time around was "self portrait"! BLECK! I am so sick of looking at pictures of myself! I submitted my pictures, then deleted them, then submitted again. I need to stay away from the Face Book page, and not make any more changes to the pictures! :-D

So, in honor of the assignment, I will post some of my self portraits here. They are not anything fabulous. She said to concentrate on creativity, and not to worry about the technical aspects of the pictures. Thankfully I have a tripod, and a remote control. Those 2 little things made this a "little" easier, but not much!

So, here are some pictures of Me! :-D The ones that are the least gross! Enjoy them, it may be the last time you see my face on this site! LOL!

By the way, did I tell everyone that the photojournalism shots I turned in got picked to be posted on her blog? .....no?.....well, she picked my 4 pictures! That would be the baseball pics of John. I'll include a link to her blog, once she posts them.
Thanks for looking.

Who Wants To Go To The Zoo?

Last weekend, John and I went to Zoo Atlanta. If you know me at all, you know I LOVE a trip to the zoo! We planned it perfectly! Got there just as the gates were opening. Actually got to see some of the animals before anybody else! By the time the crowds started getting heavy, we were done and on our way out! Now that's the way to see the zoo!
Very image heavy. Here are just some of the animals we saw at the zoo.
So, sit back, grab a drink, maybe a little snack, and enjoy our trip to the zoo!
Thanks for looking!

Third Photography Assignment Turned In

My third assignment was due last night. The theme was "photojournalism." Which, by definition is telling a story through photos. The photo will evoke the emotion of the moment. We were to take a series of 4 pictures which would tell a story.
I had a hard time understanding the assignment. Bad me!
I thought she wanted 4 random photos that told a story. I found out 7 hours before the assignment was due, that she wanted all 4 photos to tell the story of the subject.
So......I had to get creative, and find 4 quick photos to submit in time. Duh!
Thankfully, John was in a good mood last evening, and he helped me get my homework done. Thanks baby!
Baseball was technically my subject. As John explained it, he is dreaming of baseball. Then, he's trying to make the cut. Finally, he realizes that baseball is a game for the boys.
Here are the 4 photos I turned in. By the way....someone needs to cut the grass on that baeball field! :-)

I'm happy with them.....but also too critical of myself. I wish I had time to do something else with it. We only had a week to get this homework together. I was hoping I'd find a subject while in Atlanta, but it just didn't work for me.

Next assignment is Self Portrait. OMG! Bleck! NOT looking forward to that one!
Will she post the pictures she turns in?.....that remains to be seen! :-)

Atlanta Aquarium

This weekend, John took me to Atlanta to visit the Georgia Aquarium, and Zoo Atlanta.
I had been dying to see the aquarium ever since it opened. It was "nice", but not what I had envisioned. :-( It was very over-crowded, you couldn't get a good view for all of the people, it was noisy, and much smaller than I thought! It's a huge building, but not that many animals and fish! We had heard about their "Penguins to Pandas" plan. You pay one price, and can visit both the aquarium, and the zoo. We'd been all over the aquarium, and never saw the penguins. I asked a worker where they were hiding the penguins. Come to find out, you have to pay EXTRA to see them! They are kept in a different section of the building! We hadn't paid the extra fee, so no penguins for us!
In my opinion, Atlanta can't hold a torch to the aquarium in Boston Mass. Now that is an amazing aquarium! And worth an afternoon's visit!
Here are some shots I took at the aquarium. Thankfully I had some great pictures from the trip. In the past (before taking my photography class), I was never able to get good shots at an aquarium. So, I am feeling just a little bit sassy right now!
Enjoy your trip thru the Georgia Aquarium through my photos.
I'll post pictures from the zoo later.
Thanks for visiting!

Turned In My Second Photo Assignment

I have been neglecting the blog again. It's so hard to keep things up to date! Everyday life gets in the way of keeping things up to date.

The photography classes are going great! I'm learning a lot. And, after all of these years, I am finally comfortable taking the camera out of the Auto mode, and using manual settings! Though, some times it's just a whole lot easier to stick it in auto and get the shot real quick! :-0 Don't tell my instructer! LOL!

Second assignment was "Still Lifes." This was an easy one. I was clicking pictures left and right. The hardest part was picking just 4 to submit for the assignment!
Here are the 4 that I finally chose:

And yes, I drug out the old trumpet, shined her up, and used it for some creative pictures.

My grades are still pending. Did I tell ya I got all A's on the first assignment?! It's been a long time since I got straight A's! LOL!

Last night's class we learned all about Photo Journalism. Learning how to use photography to tell a story, and get out of the "snap shot" mode to create works of art. We have to show emotion of the moment in our photos. Laura's examples were stunning, and very intimidating when I know that now I need to take that knowledge, and create something "artistic." Some of her examples were great family portraits at the beach, children playing in the surf, ect. Well.....I have no children, and John is not going to pose the way these families did! :-P So, I have to come up with something really creative.

That's the hard part! I'm great at imitating things I've seen others do. But, when I have to be creative, I get the photographer's version of writer's block!
So, hopefully the Good Lord will provide me with some patience in working on this.

The good news is that John and I will be going to Atlanta this weekend. We're going to the Georgia Aquarium, and Zoo Atlanta. The Aquarium is close to Centennial Park, so hopefully I can get some great candid pictures of the kids playing in the water fountains.
